若くして亡くなったヴァイオリニスト。ベルリン国立歌劇場のコンサートマスターやヒンデミットトリオの初期メンバーを勤めていました。
演奏は伊達男というかどことなく色気のある音色が魅力で、同世代の演奏家の中でも音が個性的で存在感があります。
1920年代に多数の録音を残していますが、協奏曲以外はまとまった復刻盤がなく、原盤を地道に収集するしかない演奏家です。
A violinist who died young. He was concertmaster of the Berlin State Opera and an early member of the Hindemith Trio.
His playing was appealing, with a sexy tone that can be described, and even among violinists of his generation, his sound was unique and has a strong presence.
Although he made many recordings in the 1920s, there are no reprints of his works other than his concertos, and he is a performer who has no choice but to steadily collect the originals.

ブレッヒによるモーツァルト。
盤面に記載はされていませんが、1928年はベルリン国立歌劇場のコンマスがヴォルフシュタールだったので、途中のソロパートが彼の演奏ではないかと思いましたので公開します。
女性的なやわらかいレオブレッヒの指揮と対照的に男性的な線の強い音が聞こえ大変良いレコードです。
カップリングはクレンペラーのブラームス・大学祝典序曲の3面目です。残念ながら1,2面目は未入手。

Although it is not written on the label, Wolfstahl played the concertmaster at the Berlin State Opera in 1928, so I thought that the solo part in the middle was his performance, so I am publishing it.
This is a very good record where you can hear the strong sound in contrast to Leo blech's soft conducting.
The coupling piece is the third side of Klemperer's Academic Festival Overture. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten the first and second sides yet.

Josef Wolfsthal - Romanze in F-Dur, Op.50 (Beethoven) [Gramophone 69794](May 1925)
ヴォルフシュタールのベートーヴェンでロマンス。この録音と同時期に協奏曲の方も録音していて、マトリクス番号が連続で続いています。
ピッチが高く、ちょうど76rpmに落としたらベルリン国立歌劇場・20年代末頃の電気録音と同程度のピッチになりました。
ピッチは76rpmと78rpmの両方を公開します。

At the same time as this recording, the concerto was also recorded, and the matrix numbers continue consecutively.
The pitch was high, and when I lowered it to just 76 rpm, the pitch became comparable to the electric recordings made at the Berlin State Opera in the late 1920s.
I have uploaded sound sources with both 76rpm and 78rpm pitches.
